Amethyst
The instantly recognisable Amethyst is actually a variety of quartz. Whilst it is always purple in colour, the hue can vary from a pale, delicate lilac through to a deep, vibrant violet.
It is the birthstone for February and is said to have healing and cleansing properties, particularly related to mental health, and boosts the immune system.
The Amethyst lends itself so well to jewellery design – it is a very regal stone and for centuries was associated with royalty, wealth and power.
